The Largs Hoe Down hosted by Barb and Vic Unicomb on 9th April was a great success. Many attendees set up their tents on the lush grass in preparation for a big night. Children were entertained with face painting, pony and sulky rides. The hay ride which moves along the Hunter River levee banks was very popular with all ages. There was much excitement when the cow was released into the bingo area to mark his spot. DJ Jethro played music in the early evening to keep the guests on their feet. A scrumptious meal was served before the main event – Melbourne band “Straight 8’s” performance in the hay shed. Many couples were up and dancing as soon as the music played – and what a great sound they made.
Overall the night was a great success with Barb and Vic donating the profits of $601 to Kiwanis to utilise in their work with local children’s charities. 12 members spent 41 hours assisting in the success of this project.
